Disney Park Essentials+
What to buy before you go to Disney? What’s easier to buy when you’re at the parks? At the resorts? What’s a waste of money? All of those things. And with SO. FREAKIN. MANY resources and opinions, we’re happy to give you one more 😆
For real though. The majority of the lists and recommendations I’ve seen really don’t apply to me. But that didn’t stop me from buying everything I anticipated needing on our first trip. I actually have two (maybe 3 now LOL) plastic bins of ‘going to Disney’ stuff. I’ll have to share that in another post but until then, enjoy this list + shopping links …. and WHY I love having these items handy during a Walt Disney World visit.
1.Chilly Pad Cooling Towels
2. Personal Fan
4. Reuseable Straws
5. First Aid Kit
6. Poncho + Rain
Chill Pad Cooling Towels - Do yourself a huge favor and don’t even buy any other ones. I’ve bought them all and these are hands down the best. That’s from a travel ball mama sitting in 114º West Texas heat. These actually stay cool. You have the option of minis which are nice since they come with their own plastic case. Since that doesn’t really matter to me, I buy the larger ones and cut them. If in the parks, grab a couple of complimentary cups of ice water at any quick service and douce these babies for a quick cool.
Personal Fans- Personally, I really like the bladeless neck fans. Hands free and best air flow. BUT…. you have to charge them and they can be a bit cumbersome to carry around. Handheld ones with a neck strap are more compact, battery operated, and general cheaper.
Solar Powered Charger- Game Changer. I can’t take the credit as it was shared to me from another travel ball mama. But you don’t have to worry about remembering to charge this overnight or running out of charge for multiple devices.
Reuseable Straws - Disney has paper straws (and no lids). They just disintegrate almost immediately. We have straws but generally forget them but I also want them. I prefer the silicone ones because they bend but the stainless steel ones are cheaper and sturdier. Just remember to take the brush with you to clean when needed.
First Aid Kid- Yes, there are child care centers throughout parks that offer basic items like bandaids but if you’re waiting in an attraction line and your kid needs a bandaid, it’s not super convenient. These kits are tiny and incredibly handy.
Ponchos- In Florida, you can expect random rain. Typically, it’s mid-afternoon and short-lived. Just enough to make the weather slightly steamy but who wants to sit in wet clothes and shoes for the remainder of their day. These ponchos are reuseable or disposable so you can choose if you want to dry and continue to carry. Yes, the park offers ponchos but do you want to try and find one during a rain when everyone else is? or pay $10+ for each one? No, thanks. I have not used the shoe covers yet but these make perfect sense!
